As a kid, my tastes were pretty simple. One of my all-time favorite afterschool snacks was American cheese on saltines with a glass of milk. Today, my palate has expanded, but the basic concept has not. Dairy + carbs = awesome. And now that I’m of legal drinking age, dairy + carbs + wine = the perfect snack to spoil my dinner.
I came across the cheese you see here when spending an evening in wine country with four very cool foodies. It’s from a company called Beehive Cheese, and no, it’s not dirty – it’s hand-rubbed with Turkish coffee and French lavender for a smoky, nutty flavor that is unlike any other cheese I’ve sampled.
The best part? Beehive distributes this cheese in quite a few stores nationwide. Find it. Buy it. Call me after school and give me a full report.

we must have been separated at birth. my favorite afternoon snack as a child was cheddar cheese, saltines and … marshmallows. yeah… it worked back then. i’ll have to be on the look-out for this cheese.
yum! a cheese that I can actually eat! will check it out next time I’m shopping.
susan, it’s at our fave whole foods! I will get you some!
I like it to. Cheese + crackers = can’t go wrong.
